Most insurance agencies are built around transactions. BenZen was built around guidance, advocacy, and reducing friction in an increasingly complicated healthcare system.

My name is Ted McNeil, and I founded BenZen after seeing firsthand how difficult it can be for individuals, families, and small businesses to find clear guidance when they need it most.

The gap between having insurance and actually understanding how to use it has grown too wide.

BenZen was created to help close that gap through education, advocacy, thoughtful systems, and personalized support.

We’re independent by design—built to stay lean, adaptable, and focused on people instead of backlog.

Modern Infrastructure, Human Results

I’ve always believed that modern businesses should deeply understand the systems they rely on.

While I’m not an engineer by trade, building BenZen pushed me to become deeply involved in the operational side of the practice—from workflow automation and cloud infrastructure to integrating modern AI tools into our day-to-day processes.

Being small and independent allowed us to build intentionally from the ground up, creating a scalable foundation instead of inheriting outdated systems and legacy complexity.

Keep it simple. The best systems are often the ones clients never have to think about.

The goal has been to reduce operational drag and simplify the work to create more time for meaningful client support.

Every improvement behind the scenes helps us stay responsive, organized, and client-focused as we continue to grow.

Built From Advocacy

My perspective on healthcare changed through both professional experience and personal loss.

After losing family members to diabetes and later navigating my own prediabetes, I became increasingly aware of how overwhelming making the rig decisions can feel—especially for those managing chronic conditions or balancing family, business, and financial responsibilities.

Over time, I realized many people weren’t simply looking for policies; they were looking for guidance, clarity, and someone willing to help them navigate the gray areas of the system.

That became the foundation for BenZen.

Meet Benny

As BenZen evolved, many of our internal systems gradually became part of an operating layer we call Benny.

Benny isn’t a chatbot or a marketing gimmick. It’s an internal framework that helps manage workflows, organization, intake, research, and communication across the business.

The purpose is simple: to help a small, focused team stay organized and responsive, delivering a higher level of consistency and support without losing the human side of the relationship.

Technology should reduce friction—not create more of it.
